About Eric
Eric Yoon strives to captivate audiences with his fierce and lyrical saxophone playing. As a soloist, he pushes his musicianship constantly and becomes a versatile and well-rounded player. To accomplish this, he attended the American Saxophone Academy at the Hartt School in 2023 and 2024 to study under 5 of the top saxophone professors in America. Additionally, he also attended the Eastman Summer Institute in 2023 under Dr. Lin. In 2020, he won the first prize in the woodwind division of the American Protege International Woodwinds & Brasswinds competition, earning him a performance at Carnegie Hall as a soloist. In addition to competitions, Eric frequently collaborates with composers and other musicians having premiered 1 solo saxophone and 3 saxophone chamber works. He hopes to continuously inspire others with his music and demonstrate the capabilities of classical saxophone to a much wider audience. As a Korean American, Eric hopes to perform and teach actively between Korea and the United States. Eric is pursuing a bachelor's degree in saxophone performance at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, where he studies with Doug O’Connor. Once he finishes his degree, he hopes to get his Master’s and Doctorate degrees in saxophone performance and pursue a career as a soloist. After a substantial career as a soloist, Eric wants to become a saxophone professor in the United States or Korea and develop his saxophone studio.
